How to make a Miiloid (CV)

This guide mainly focuses on the parts of the Mii voicebank making process that differ from how one would normally make one, I would advise also using I normal guide alongside this one if you want more detail.

Set up Miitomo via Kaerutomo, then go to settings. Turn off bgm and sound effects. Leave Mii voices turned on. this is so that you can record your Mii’s vocals later. I also recommend switching the game’s language to Japanese so that your Mii will make better Japanese pronunciations, and to simplify the text input process.

You are also going to need to install UTAU and get it set up. remember to set your system locale to Japanese before installing it.

Create the Mii you want to use, or scan a QR code.

Once you are happy with your Mii and it’s voice, it’s time to record the clips to create your voicebank.

Take this reclist and paste it into your Mii’s catchphrase boxes. This list is for a CV voicebank, if you want to create a different type of voicebank you’ll need to make your own list. Just find a reclist for the type of voicebank you want to make and modify it for Miitomo.

If you can’t read hiragana, you will likely also need a chart for checking pronunciations later.

CV voicebanks are made up of all the sounds from the Hiragana alphabet, if you want to make your voicebank with an english speaking Mii, you’ll need to translate those characters into romaji so your Mii can read them.

Using the play button beside each catchphrase box, screen record your Mii reciting the hiragana lists. next, you’ll need to convert the recording into an audio file.

once you've converted your audio, import it into Audacity on your computer.

To create a clip, select a section where your firsts sound is made, then go to file>export>export selected area, name it in correspondence with the noise made in that clip (clips must be named using hiragana), and export it into a folder. repeat for each clip (all into the same folder) until you have done this for all of them.

you should end up with something that looks like this.

For some reason, newer versions of audacity either removed the "export selected area" feature, or hid it somewhere I haven't been able to find, so honestly, i’d recommend just using an older version. I usually use ver 3.3.1

From here on, the process is the exact same as making any other voicebank. So for now, I’ll direct you to this tutorial on the subject, timestamped to where we left off.

after you do all that please come back and show me what horrors you've created
